INDIAN VERSION OF AN OLD STORY

An Old Story:

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and
laying up supplies for the winter..

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs & dances & plays the
summer away.

Come winter, the Ant is warm and well fed. The Grasshopper has no food or
shelter so he dies out in the cold.

Indian Version:

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and
laying up supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant's a fool and laughs & dances & plays the
summer away.

Come winter, the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference and
demands to know why the Ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed
while others are cold and starving..
NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering Grasshopper
next to a video of the Ant in his comfortable home with a table filled
with food.

The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor
Grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the Ant's house.

Medha Patkar goes on a fast along with other Grasshoppers demanding that
Grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter .

Mayawati states this as `injustice' done on Minorities.

Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticize the Indian Government for
not upholding the fundamental rights of the Grasshopper.

The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the
Grasshopper (many promising Heaven and Everlasting Peace for prompt
support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance) .

Opposition MPs stage a walkout. Left parties call for 'Bengal Bandh' in
West Bengal and Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry.

CPM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard
in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among Ants and
Grasshoppers.

Lalu Prasad allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Indian Railway
Trains, aptly named as the 'Grasshopper Rath'.

Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the ' Prevention of Terrorism
Against Grasshoppers Act' [POTAGA], with effect from the beginning of the
winter.

Arjun Singh makes 'Special Reservation ' for Grasshoppers in Educational
Institutions & in Government Services
.

The Ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and having nothing left
to pay his retroactive taxes,it's home is confiscated by the Government
and handed over to the Grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV.

Arundhati Roy calls it ' A Triumph of Justice'.

Lalu calls it 'Socialistic Justice '.

CPM calls it the ' Revolutionary Resurgence of the Downtrodden '

Koffi Annan invites the Grasshopper to address the UN General Assembly.

Many years later...

The Ant has since migrated to the US and set up a multi-billion dollar
company in Silicon Valley
,

100s of Grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation somewhere
in India,

.

..AND

As a result of loosing lot of hard working Ants and feeding the
grasshoppers,

what is it really??

what genre of music do you listen?

this is a question you can really expect for your interview, when you have filled your hobbies tag with "listening to music"

I prepared my resume, hobby is listening to music, i am nearing my interviews.
I imagined a panel of people, asking questions and i was answering. Suddenly out of nowhere the critical question came up. I couldn't answer, i was in a total blank state.

If someone asked me the same question a few months back, i wouldn't hesitate to answer.
I am a rock fan. Metallica, Maiden, Dream theater, blah blah...... they are my favorites. I hear it every time. My room mates are already fed up of my fav songs.
I remember very well, when me and Sarin (my roomie) moved together to a new place, first thing i did after cleaning the room was to connect my system and play a metallica song. anyone should have seen the expression on his face. It was a big NO!!! Benny also supported him.

My father had great love for music. We had a great collection or songs at home. Mostly Hindi. I grew up hearing this. I started playing guitar. I played movie songs, ganamelas....One fine night a thief broke into my home. Along with the other stuff he could lay hands on, he took all the cassettes. I guess he too loved music. How much we tried, but couldn't restore all. After that started listening to Malayalam songs too. Everything went on till 12th.

I came to Trivandrum for Engineering. Hostel life, along with many other things, changed my songs too. I became addicted to rock.

Time passed on.
I found myself watching a realty show on TV (which didn't play any western nos.). I started hearing melodies, romantic songs. Guitar Gods were replaced by A R Rahman, Harris Jeyaraj, Raveendran, ..........the list goes on. Mohd. Rafi, Kishore kumar,...became heroes of worship.

After a few weeks i found myself siting at the studio of the TV channel and watching the program on recording. I was actually commenting!!!!
What a change. Subin Abid, who used to give lessons on guitaring, that too heavy stuff, is commenting for a great Raveendram composition!!!

But..............
that was only a starting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
after a fortnight , I was listening to just one singer!!!!!! my favorite singer. My PC and phone played the same "shyamameghame" song again and again. Even my roomie who loved the song started hating it.

Now i wonder
whats is it that i really like??
Was it all about the song or........................???

Machine shop

Finally it happened

i did a lab exam without the usual viva "chori"

my previous experiances with lab exams have been horrible
the worst part is the viva which strikes at any time during the 3 hour gig
every exam i appeared were "memorable"
viva ranging from 15 minutes to 1 hour
least being firstyear workshop and the longest, Heat engines lab in s4

i was "fortunate" enough each time to complete my experiment soon and enjoy the pleasure of being chorrified by the externel examiner. whats in my starsign that makes me so lucky???

you should expect topsyturvys in life
s5 university lab exams and i was "prepared" to take the challange
but
only 3 minutes
thats the time i got to "express" myself
times are changing, wind changing the direction
i dont know who was misfortunate enough this time
it was not me

but
i am happy
finally came out of lab light hearted

now
one more lab to came
let me wait and see what happens
